Athens, GA – In an effort to promote creative placemaking in the Athens community, the Athens Cultural Affairs Commission (ACAC) invites local organizations, groups, and artists to submit applications for its third annual Arts in Community Grants competition. The deadline for application submissions is Friday, February 26, 2016.

Grants will support projects or events in Athens-Clarke County. Grants will be awarded based on particular criteria, including: level of community enrichment through the arts, contribution to the local identify, and quality or artistic merit. Projects may involve any art form, including: performance, visual arts, events, and technology. Grant funds may be used as matching funds for a greater project.

In 2016 ACAC will award two grants of $1500 each. The application deadline is February 26, 11:59 p.m., with no consideration for late submissions. Grantees will be notified by March 15 and funds will be released by April 22, 2016. All awarded works must be completed by December 30, 2016; a final report will be required at the completion of the project.
