    Ben T. Epps - Aviator

    A statue of Georgia’s first aviator, Ben T. Epps, is located on West Washington Street, directly across from the site of the former bicycle shop where Epps built his first plane in 1907. The Ben Epps Statue Committee partnered with the Athens-Clarke Heritage Foundation to raise money to commission and place the statue.
